Richard Donegan, Middlesex, England
According to the 1851 census, Richard was born a British Subject, ca 1813, in Ireland. His marriage cert states his father's name was John. Richard was a bootmaker and his father was a veterinary surgeon. Richard is my gr-gr-grandfather. He married Caroline Marriott in 1843 in Stepney, Middlesex, England and had 8 children: Mary Jane, John J (my gr-grandfather), Fanny, Ellen, Winifred, Caroline, Thomas and Richard. His son, John married Catherine Sullivan and they moved to New Jersey USA in 1882. John and Catherine had 10 children: Caroline, Thomas, Mary, James, Winifred, Ellen and Gertrude. Caroline and Thomas were born in England.
James, my grandfather, married Minnie McNeil. They had 6 children:
Wilbur (1908-1964), Lillian (1912-1991), James (1913-1977), Robert (my father, 1915-1984), Andrew (1917-1984) and Lucille. I've been unable to find out exactly where, in Ireland, Richard was born. In fact the only place I find him for certain is in the 1851 census. Yet his and Catherine's children were born between the years 1847-1865.

Cornelius Donegan, 1880 Kentucky, USA, orginally from Ireland
From my grandfather's (Roger D. Donegan) research and some of my own, the earliest ancestor we can trace back to is Cornelius Donegan in a 1880 U.S. census from Kentucky. He was the father of the head of house hold, Daniel Donegan. Cornelius' birthdate says abt 1822 from Ireland. Also, his son was born in Ireland abt 1850. Daniel had two sons; Ed Donegan, birth year 1875 and Daniel Donegan, birth year 1880, and one daughter, Susan, birthyear 1877. All chldren were born in Kentucky. So, Cornelius and his son Daniel came across from Ireland sometime between 1850 and 1875. Daniel, born in Kentucky, eventually made his way to the Linn County area of Iowa USA. Where, four more generations of Donegans would be born. Philip, his sons Donald, Richard and Roger. Richard and Roger were true brothers while Donald was a step. Richard had no children, having died in WW 2. Roger had one son, Richard. Richard had two children; Carolyn and Brendan (myself). Richard moved to Las Vegas, Nevada USA in 1982 with his family.

Dicey and Plez Dunegan, McEwen, Tennesee, USA
These were my great-great grandparents. All I know about them is where they are from and who they were in relation to me. My great grandmother was Syrena Ann Dunegan Craft. She lived to be 101 years old and passed away in 1985 (I think). These are her parents. Therefore, I am thinking that they would have been born in the mid 1800's. I would love to provide more information but, this is all that I can get out of my great-aunt.

I am seeking any information pertaining to James Donegan formerly of Philadelphia, PA. He resided on Ann Street near Frankford Avenue in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. He was born on Jun 25 1914 and died in July 1985. I believe James' wife's name was Hazel. She may have gone by the nickname "Sissy". He had one son, James (Jimmy) who was alive and possibly living in Florida as of 2008. I believe Mr James Donegan's grandparents emigrated from Ireland during or just after the Famine. Though, this has not been substantiated.
